ouse Alurthilar was founded thousands of years ago. A gold dragon named Bel’lazeelnuar was enslaved, and was magically trapped in Elven form. The only way she could free herself from her curse, was to destroy the warlocks who cursed her. So she traveled across the plane, seeking the material components to end the spell she was under. Little did she know, that one of the prominent elven families of Evermeet (House Baggati) actually responsible for the spell, thinking they could gain power, both magical and political by having the strength of a gold dragon backing them.
The youngest son of House Baggati, Alurthilar, discovered the plan, and fled the family to find and aid the dragon. In doing so, he was cast out of the family, disgraced, and disowned. Many years passed, before he found her traveling, seeking her components. Immediately he informed her of the treachery of his former family, vowing to aid her in her quest for freedom. They traveled for decades together, fighting creatures from all over faerun, the underdark, and even other planes. Eventually they fell in love. As their quest neared completion, she discovered that, incredibly, she was carrying Alurthilar’s child.
Putting it from her mind, they returned to Evermeet, traveling in secret to the keep of House Baggati, a great battle was fought within the dungeons below. They fought through legions of undead raised by the warlocks, demons summoned and bound to their will were dispatched, and in the final battle, the warlocks were slain, their spell broken. However, Alurthilar had suffered grevious wounds, and died soon after. The elder families of evermeet met and decided that, to honor the sacrifice of Alurthilar, and as a reward for destroying so dark and black a possible stain upon Evermeet itself, House Alurthilar would be founded. With Bel’lazeelnuar (who stayed in elven form, to give birth to and raise her son) as its Matriarch. She raised her son to adulthood, teaching him the ways of Magic, combat, nobility, and the art of rule. Eventually, House Alurthilar became the prominent family it is today. Every so often however, the draconic bloodline has shown up in one of the descendants of Alurthilar and Bel’lazeelnuar, always with a child touched by magic.
Welverin, currently the youngest son of the noble House Alurthilar, was born with an incredible thirst for magical knowledge. So much so that he has pursued his studies of magic quite recklessly, even to the exclusion of nearly everything else in his life, including friends, family, and even personal health. He has spent decades in solitude, showing a nearly obsessive dedication to gathering magical power and understanding the mysteries of the universe. Unfortunately, this dedication and focus has made him somewhat oblivious to the everyday workings of normal life, and at times can make him seem….slightly unbalanced, but ultimately his brilliance is merely inversely proportionate to his common sense.
Being unable to understand his personality, his family approached him concerned with his welfare, but when his father demanded he spend less time studying, and more time helping the family find a suitable noblewoman to increase their political influence, he was completely caught by surprise. He could not understand how they could ever expect the tedium of politics and marriage to ever compare with the pursuit of knowledge. Arguing with his father late into the night simply convinced him that his time at Evermeet was coming to an end, and he decided to accelerate his study of a magical artifact found in the bowels of the Alurthilar vault. Far more quickly than he would have liked, he decided it was time to cast the dweomer, and activate the item. Unfortunately he made an infinitesimal oversight in his ritual and miscast the spell. With a great flash of light, and a sharp burning in his head, he woke up in a bustling city utterly unknown to him. Finding that he spoke the language, but not understanding how, he began to explore this new plane, wondering how many others in his family have used this device and found themselves here.
Aware of, but completely unconcerned with the fact he had no idea how to get home, he set off and discovered the city he was in was called Elvor’edwen, and shortly afterwards, he realized that all he had with him were the things he was wearing, and the gold he had on him, he set out to reconstruct his spell repertoire with a newly acquired spellbook, and find what opportunities existed in this strange, and yet oddly familiar world and what mysteries here would reveal their secrets to his tenacious mind.
